Full body application

Part body application

Naturasun sets itself apart from competition by offering 8 different mixable sun sprays. It’s the ONLY product that allows clients to create their own perfect shade of tan.

The all over application will give you an initial bronze look, and will continue to develop for a further 12 hours into a gorgeous natural glow.

No streaks, no orange patches often associated with rub on tan, just a smooth silky, just off the beach look.

On arrival you will have an initial consultation to establish your tanning requirements and spray choice.

It is advised to exfoliate the night before your Naturasun appointment (not on the day of application). This will remove the dead skin cells, helping to promote even coverage and lengthens the duration of your tan.

It is best to shave/wax at least 8 hours before your appointment.

Avoid wearing makeup and moisturisers on the face as this acts as a barrier to the spray and stops the process from being fully completed, reducing the quality of the application.

Please use a headband for long hair as stray hairs can smear your tan. We will also give you a bonnet to protect your hair.

We recommend you wear dark underwear and loose clothing. Naturasun washes out of most clothing easily but tends to stain nylon and lycra materials, therefore dark coloured underwear is best. Please bring a pair of flip flops with you.

Deodorant should be avoided immediately prior to your tanning as many react to the DHA in the sun spray and will turn green.

What is DHA?

Dihydroxyacetone  (DHA) is a simple carbohydrate that is primarily used as an ingredient in sunless tanning products. It is often derived from plant sources such as sugar beets and sugar cane, by the fermentation of glycerine. It is used as a sweetener in many products and its tanning ability was first discovered when a nurse spilt sweet cough syrup on a child’s face, which then stained the skin!

How long will my tan last

Depending on your skin type, which spray tan is used and how the tan is maintained, your tan can last between 5 and 10 days. The duration of the tan can be extended by giving two applications over a 48 hour period. In this case, you should ensure that at least 24 hrs have elapsed between the first and second application and that you have taken a shower between the two.

Is it safe?

Yes, the sprays have been tested by the Cosmetic Institute of Germany which has the strictest laws governing cosmetics in Europe and some sprays are FDA approved. With the increased awareness of the risks of UV tanning, sunless tanning is even more popular due to its health benefits compared to UV tanning.

Can it cause an allergic reaction?

Some people may have an allergy to DHA, and therefore to all sunless tanning solutions. This allergy is rare and can be spotted by doing a patch test 24 hours before treatment.  Our new Toffee tan contains 100% natural pomegranate anti-oxidants, enhanced moisturiser, tan extender and has no parabens or alcohol making it more gentle to the skin.

What do I do before my Naturasun application?

Please refer to our notes on Preparation.

When should I wash off the Naturasun?

Wait at least 12 hours before washing the tan off, you need to allow enough time for the reaction to take place.

Does it smell?

All fake tans have a distinctive odour. Naturasun have worked hard to keep this smell to a minimum. Combined with the powerful extraction of the booth, you will not find the smell disagreeable. The smell also doesn’t linger long on the skin. Why not try our Chocolate Tan which has a delicious smell to it.

What if I have sensitive skin?

People with sensitive skin need not despair! All of the sprays keep the level of DHA's to a minimum and the Toffee spray has been specifically developed for those with sensitive skin – Toffee has no parabens or alcohol.

What if I have dry skin?

We recommend that all Naturasun users moisturise their skin as much as possible as this will benefit your tan.

Why are there 9 sprays? How do I know which one to use?

No two people are the same, so why should everyone use the same tone of spray? All effective sunless tanners contain a certain level of Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) and other ingredients which make them more suitable for certain types of skin. The concentration of DHA present in a spray tanning solution ultimately affects the intensity of the colour, meaning that one colour of tan does not suit all. People with lighter skins should opt for a lower DHA concentration, a Naturasun Regular Bronze for example, whilst those with darker skins should go for a Chocolate or D&E tan. There are full descriptions of each tan in our Product Guide.

What if I am pregnant?

We don’t recommend that pregnant women, or those breast feeding, use Naturasun. There is nothing dangerous in our sprays but they do contain a small amount of alcohol to aid the drying process. Some women also become sensitive to some products when pregnant so this advice is a general precaution.

Can I still get a spray tan if I have very pale skin? (i.e. redheads etc).

Of course! Naturasun cater for all skin types! Just choose a spray with low DHA, such as Regular Bronze.

I’m getting married, will it rub off on my dress?

No, make sure you get your gorgeous all-over tan at least one day before your wedding. Wash off the colour guide 12 hours later.
